The CM’s War Room

We were humbled to stand hand-in-hand with the Government of Karnataka in their effort to ensure food security during the covid-19 crisis. A CM’s War Room or the Covid-19 Dasoha Control Room was set up with over 22 facilities converted into kitchens and storage messes. Through a special tracking platform enabled by Swiggy, 600+ volunteers ensured 24×7 food distribution across 14 weeks.

WATER

Heading towards becoming the global hot spot for ‘water insecurity’ India is on the backfoot when it comes to water conservation. And as the world prepares for Global Warming, our immediate task is to save water and reclaim lost water masses. With this thought in mind, we as an organization endeavor to create sustainable living starting with the state of Karnataka working towards creating a difference for the entire country.

Ganga Yodha Mahotsav

Ganga, the most pristine and sacred river of our nation, has been tainted for decades now. With pollution and dirt running along its course, a plethora of environmental issues has caused the purity and sanctity to dip. While there are a multitude of civic bodies that work towards rejuvenating the river Ganga, the Indian army’s initiative ‘Operation Ganga’ has proven to be the most effective and is undertaken by the Territorial Army’s 137 Central Ecological Task Force Battalion (TA) 39 GR.

We conducted the Ganga Yodha Mahotsav 2020 in association with the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation and partnered with task force (TA) 39 GR to create an unforgettable celebration of the efforts and progress made by the battalion while spreading awareness regarding their initiative.

The Mahotsav was held on the banks of the river at Assi Ghat, Varanasi with India’s voice of Soul Kailash Kher as the messenger of hope for the initiative. The celebration saw the message reach far and wide with the public, celebrities, media houses and change makers speaking about the cause.

The unit is now expanding its footprint beyond Prayagraj to Kanpur and Varanasi and functions in close coordination with the National Mission for Clean Ganga.

The celebrations helped bring forth the message of the initiative through the art of music, while the musical evening came to an end with the citizens, celebrities and journalists signed a pledge to take forward the army’s initiative.

The Lake Festivals

We conceptualized and curated Namma Bengaluru Habba, a lake festival conducted in Sankey Tank and Rachenahalli Lake that reached out to the citizens of Bengaluru in a unique celebratory way and created awareness around the Lakes of Bengaluru while promoting a green and sustainable lifestyle.

Over 3.2 lakh citizens of Bengaluru came together to celebrate our lakes while creating awareness on water conservation, lake preservation and sustainable living.

An 100% green initiative by Phase 1 to action change, create a difference and preserve the natural heritage of India’s Garden City.

AIR

Air pollution is a world-wide phenomenon but its contributors are unique to each city. In Bengaluru, vehicular emission accounts for 60-70% of the total pollution. And as Bengaluru’s responsible citizen, Phase 1 constantly promotes means of increasing the quality of air and reducing its sources.

Open Streets MG Road

As a once-in-a-lifetime event in the city, we opened MG Road to everything except traffic. 2 lakh people used public transportation to attend a completely green festival as the nerve center of Bangalore was transformed into an Open Street. The festival managed to revive the long-lost charm of the Boulevard of Bengaluru City – M.G. Road.

The city’s BMTC and BMRCL extended travel support by providing bus and metro services to encourage people to use public transport for commute. Special parking arrangements for bicycles were also provided.

LAND

Development v/s environment has and always will be a divisive topic. And as we progress forward, we feel the urgency and need to give back to the land we come from. To enable the same, we chose to partner with the most powerful and resilient entity of our country.

Ecological Batallion

The first of its kind in the world, India’s Ecological Task Force (ETF) battalions have fought against deforestation and ecological degradation for years. It was initiated by the Indian government in 1980 to undertake ecological restoration work in terrains rendered difficult either due to remote location, severe degradation or risky law-and-order situations. The idea behind ETF battalions was to infuse military-like work culture and commitments into high-priority eco-projects by enrolling Ex-Servicemen.

Phase 1 has made this project one of its core CSR initiatives by closely working with the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Environment and Forests to create awareness, promote action and support the cause of these Green Warriors by engaing with civilians for awareness campaigns and the promotion of eco tourism.

EDUCATION

Bangalore has the highest youth (under 25 years of age) population in India. However, more than half of the population does not have access to quality English education. We endeavour to provide affordable English education for children in underprivileged sections of society.

Indiranagar Cambridge School

Established in 1979, a school built on the passion to provide quality English education to the most underprivileged sections of society. Founded by the late Mrs. Kasturi Shoury, Indiranagar Cambridge School provides English education to students from lower-income families from KG to 10th Standard.

This vision of providing quality education to children from underprivileged section is carried forward by Phase 1 under the leadership of Mrs. Shoury’s son Oum Pradutt. Since Phase 1’s inception, we have been associated with the school, where Mr. Pradutt has been a trustee and is involved in the school’s functioning including creating pro-bono experiences for the school every year.

Phase 1 has provided scholarships to 150 students per year for the last 24 years. 3600 students have benefitted from free education from KG to 10th standard, free textbooks and notebooks and free uniform at the beginning of each year.

Parikrma Humanity Foundation

Built on the same vision, Parikrma Foundation is a school for children of the underprivileged societies. Phase 1 has been associated with Parikrma since 2008, offering pro-bono experiences to enrich the students’ lives.  Currently catering to 1800 students, 52% of the student population are girls, and students are drawn from 99 slum communities and 4 orphanages across Bangalore.
